TI front group ECigIntelligence starts interfering in law amendment

The tobacco control law of Bangladesh is going through a much-needed amendment process. One of the major purposes of the amendment, among others, is to ban the manufacturing, import, marketing and sale of e-cigarettes and other emerging tobacco products. Tobacco industry has already started using its front organizations to interfere in and influence the amendment process.

On November 30, 2020, PROGGA received an email from ECigIntelligence of Tobacco Intelligence with this regard. In the email, David Palacios, the Managing News Editor of the Organization mentioned that he had been working on e-cig regulation in Bangladesh and sought PROGGA's opinion on the draft regulation. It should be noted that ECigIntelligence is a pro-tobacco entity that describes itself as “the leading business intelligence and regulatory research resource for professionals in the e-cigarette and tobacco-alternatives industry".

Considering numerous instances of tobacco industry's interference through front organizations, PROGGA requests you to stay alert about any advance made by ECigIntelligence or the Industry in general. The copy of the email (pdf) attached herewith for your convenience.
