WHO's Name and Logo Used in Promoting Vaping Products

A pro-vaping organization named “Voice of Vapers Bangladesh” is using the name and logo of the World Health Organization (WHO) to promote vaping products. Citing the WHO, the organization said that vaping is free from the harmful effects of tobacco and it is much safer for the lungs. This false and controversial remark was posted on the organization'sFacebook page on 5 October 2020. However, in the ‘WHO Report on Global TobaccoEpidemic 2019’, e-cigarettes were identified as a harmful product for health. Moreover, vaping increases infections and illnesses of the lungs and weakens the body's immune system, which is extremely susceptible to COVID19 infections. Such misleading promotional activities need to be stopped immediately.
