End Battle of Minds 2020 to Protect the Youth

Once again abusing the excuse of recruitment, British American Tobacco Bangladesh (BATB) has started preparation for Battle of Minds 2020. Very recently, the company has organized a leadership symposium where a wide range of leading professionals including government officials, Vice-chancellor of a public university were present along with BATB representatives. There will be several phases of the event in the following three-four months, leading to the ultimate Grand Finale.
It should be noted that BATB has been organizing this event since 2002 with a view to promoting brand image, attracting the youth to light up and also to expand its influence over the policymakers.
The Section 5.1 of the Smoking and Tobacco Products Usage (Control) Act 2005 bans all forms of sponsorship or awards for tobacco promotion or advertisement to inspire its consumption. Even section 5.3 of the law, using tobacco company name, sign, trademark or logo for social activities is also a punishable offense. The law violation will result in a monetary fine not exceeding Tk. 100,000 or a simple imprisonment not exceeding three months, or both penalties are applicable. To protect the youths from the clutch of tobacco companies, the Battle of Minds 2020 of BATB should be stopped immediately.
